If you find yourself in Abilene, it's worth driving past the chain restaurants near I-70 to the Kirby House. It looks and feels as it might have if you stepped off the steam train 100 years ago. Set in an elegantly restored 1885 building their specialty is K.C. strip steak. The steak is of good quality and is available in a variety of preparations.The building also have several rooms in the tall roof tower that are available for intimate dining options.
